Viva Valdivia!

Our first stop in Chile was the riverside city of Valdivia. It's a big university town, but it's most famous for being near the epicenter of the biggest earthquake ever recorded, 9.5, in 1960. It was also a great place to watch the Superbowl.

The harbor in Valdivia

The market from across the river. Every morning, people sell fresh fish, fruits and vegetables here. The waste draws the sea lions!

Us at the beach in the small town of Nebla outside of Valdivia.

Nat's first time in the Pacific Ocean!

Gardel the duck and Ramona the rabbit were our hosts at the AiresBuenos Hostel.

Bonus: Chilean version of contrasts for the Jewish mother. Both of these items
were at our hostel in Valdivia.
