Our first stop in Chile was the riverside city of Valdivia. It's a big university town, but it's most famous for being near the epicenter of the biggest earthquake ever recorded, 9.5, in 1960. It was also a great place to watch the Superbowl.
The market from across the river. Every morning, people sell fresh fish, fruits and vegetables here. The waste draws the sea lions!Bonus: Chilean version of contrasts for the Jewish mother. Both of these items
were at our hostel in Valdivia.
